TOOL: THE STORY BEHIND REVOLVER’S STUNNING TRIBUTE ARTWORK

via Revolver Magazine

If you have the recently released Tool-cover issue of Revolver then you’ve seen the incredible acrylic, ink and watercolor illustration by JONDIX on the last page of the magazine. The heralded illustrator and tattooist is known throughout the heavy-music community for his incredible visuals for bands including YOB, Electric Wizard, Grand Magus and more. According to him, the original, commissioned piece was inspired by Tool’s exploration of “otherworldly life and out-of-body experiences.”

“Being able to scratch the surface of something spiritual with our art is the goal, but only a few ones can transcend and enter inside that mystic world. Tool did it and I could feel it,” JONDIX told during the creation of the piece. “During the last 15 hours I’ve been working on this artwork I was listening to Tool and, believe me, it affected every brushstroke and every color decision I made. I hope all fans can enjoy and travel inside those realms with the help of my humble contribution.”

JONDIX’s Tool piece is available in Revolver‘s shop as a gorgeous, collectible 18″ x 24″ Giclee print on archival matte paper. Limited to 250, each one is hand embossed, numbered and editioned.

In addition, JONDIX created another piece of stunning original artwork for a silver collector’s edition of the Aug/Sept 2019 issue. Also limited to 250, the hand-numbered silkscreen slipcases were printed by Kayrock Screenprinting in Brooklyn, New York, four-layer with metallic silver and gold on French Black Licorice paper customed to perfectly fit the magazine.
